In this study, block copolymers composed of renewable fatty-acid-based hydrophobic block and thermoresponsive hydrophilic block were synthesized via RAFT polymerization under microwave irradiations. However, few attempts have been made in terms of their applications as amphiphilic block copolymers for controlled drug delivery. Fatty acids, naturally occurring hydrophobic lipid components with good biocompatibility and biodegradability, can be considered potential candidates for the fabrication of block copolymer micelles.
